V392 Persei: A ?-ray bright nova eruption from a known dwarf nova

چکیده

V392 Persei is a known dwarf nova (DN) that underwent classical eruption in 2018. Here we report ground-based optical, Swift UV and X-ray, Fermi-LAT \gamma-ray observations following the for almost three years. Per one of fastest evolving novae yet observed, with $t_2$ decline time 2 days. Early spectra present evidence multiple interacting mass ejections, associated shocks driving both early optical luminosity. entered Sun-constraint within days eruption. Upon exit, had evolved to nebular phase, saw tail super-soft X-ray phase. Subsequent emission captured fading ejecta alongside persistent narrow line spectrum from accretion disk. Ongoing hard characteristic standing shock an intermediate polar. Analysis data reveals orbital period 3.230 \pm 0.003 days, but see no white (WD) spin period. The suggest high WD, pre-nova spectral energy distribution (SED) indicates donor, post-nova SED points rate. Following eruption, system has remained nova-like transfer state, rather than returning DN low configuration. We this state driven by irradiation donor In many ways, shows similarity well-studied GK Persei.

Interpreting a Dwarf Nova Eruption as Magnetic Flare Activity

We suggest that the radio emission from the dwarf nova SS Cyg during outburst comes from magnetic activity that formed a corona (similar to coronae found in magnetically active stars), rather than from jets. We base our claim on the recent results of Laor & Behar, who found that when the ratio between radio and X-ray flux of accretion disks in radio-quiet quasars is as in active stars, Lr/Lx . ...

A multiwavelength study of the remnant of nova GK Persei

We present new observations of the nebular remnant of the old nova GK Persei 1901, in the optical using the Himalayan Chandra Telescope (HCT) and at low radio frequencies using the Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope (GMRT). The previous such study was by Seaquist et al (1989, hereafter S89). The dimensions of the shell in the optical emission lines of [NII], [OIII] and [OII] are 108×94 arcsec, 104...

Helium Nova on a Massive White Dwarf

The 2000 outburst of V445 Puppis shows unique properties, such as absence of hydrogen, enrichment of helium and carbon, slow development of the light curve with a small amplitude that does not resemble any classical novae. This object has been suggested to be the first example of helium novae. We calculate theoretical light curves of helium novae and reproduce the observational light curve of V...

X-ray Observations of the Bright Old Nova V603 Aquilae

We report on our Chandra and RXTE observations of the bright old nova, V603 Aql, performed in 2001 April, supplemented by our analysis of archival X-ray data on this object. We find that the RXTE data are contaminated by the Galactic Ridge X-ray emission. After accounting for this effect, we find a high level of aperiodic variability in the RXTE data, at a level consistent with the uncontaminat...
